Old Bill's 2020: Meet Alan and Jorge!
Alan (8) and Jorge (8) are cousins who have been hiking with Coombs for the past few summers. Both kids love hiking with Coombs, and almost never miss a day of programs.
The pandemic has made it difficult for Alan and Jorge to stay busy this summer, and Coombs Summer Camp has been especially meaningful both for them and their parents this year. “They’re so excited to come to camp everyday,” says Alan’s mom. “Besides Coombs Summer Camp, they don’t have anything else to do this summer.”
Paddling days at R Park are both kids’ favorite day of summer camp. “It is so fun we get to jump in the water and swim every day!” Jorge says as he jumps off the stand up paddle board he and Alan are sharing.
“Besides Coombs Summer Camp, they don’t have anything else to do this summer”
Alan also likes hiking at Snow King with Ranger Louie, from the Bridger-Teton National Forest because they “get to learn about nature.” The kids hike on local trails, identify wildlife, and learn about Leave No Trace practices. Every day when the kids eat lunch, Alan brings an extra bag from home to make sure all the other kids pick up after themselves and don’t leave any trash on the trail.
"I want to come to summer camp everyday, forever!" says Jorge.
Without Coombs Summer Camp, Alan and Jorge wouldn’t have the opportunity to spend their days hiking, swimming, and learning about the natural world around us. Please consider making an Old Bill’s gift to make summers like this possible for kids like Alan and Jorge!
